Tai Chi Classes
Tai Chi for Better Balance Classes will be offered at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
Stepping Stones Alliance, Inc. will conduct Tai Chi classes on Wednesday, 3:30-4:30 p.m. and Thursday, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Classes will last 26 weeks. Class size is limited to 8 to 10 people so sign up early. Starting date will be determined as soon as classes are filled. Those who are not in the first 8-10 will be on a waiting list for upcoming classes. There is no fee for the classes. Donations, however, will be accepted.
Tai Chi is a Chinese Martial Art. The form we employ, practiced mainly for health benefits, has been utilized to improve balance, flexibility and muscle strength; reduce falls in older adults; increase energy, endurance and agility; reduce anxiety and depression; improve sleep quality; help relieve chronic pain; improve cardio vascular fitness in order adults and lower blood pressure according to some studies. We are interested in improving balance and help reduce falls in older adults. The class is targeted for people 45 and older, but we will accommodate those younger than that as space allows.
